New York diaries part 2
Waking up to the sound of sirens was something I had to get used to if I was going to stay here. A new day and a fresh start in NYC. Which revealed itself to be impossible to explore in the time I had (3 days). Today I was gonna tackle the south side of Manhattan through the hop on an off bus. Heading into times square I wanted to try and eat one of my most wanted of breakfasts, the 'Mcgriddle', as underwhelming as it was I shook off the negative energy and filled myself of excitement to go and explore. I waited at the first stop which was smack bang in the middle of the square and awaited my journey. Eager to snag the best seats I hauled myself onto the vehicle and made it to the middle row.
The bus carried me through most of the lit up billboards and through to the ghostbuster library, moving swiftly past the the apple of the city; the Empire Sate building. There were more buildings along the way some which were finely crafted with the most picturesque architecture that I have ever seen and some that were so vast that I felt like a mere spec of dust beside it. Gliding through the famous China town was a treat and I got to experience a taste of culture in this diverse city.
Brooklyn bridge was our first stop and I felt on top of the world (cheesy I know). The views were as expected and the closer we got to Brooklyn the clearer the image was painted of the NYC skyline, it being the same muse of posters and magnets that vendors were cheerfully selling. After walking the length of the bridge, it was time to head back so I could finish the rest of the bus tour. Although it would have been nice to spend a day in Brooklyn (totally not to just take pictures of all the Brooklyn 99 spots) as I was only there for a limited amount of time, I thought it would be easier if I saw everything I wanted to in Manhattan then hopefully come back to explore other areas and cities within New York. So who knows maybe I'll write a piece on 'the Brooklyn diaries'. So on the way back up I purchased a navy blue baseball cap and headed for the next stop.
Wall street. We drive past all the old- money buildings I bask in the sun with the cool breeze making it's way through my hair. I spot scenes from movies and we approach the 'charging bull' statue I click some pics and we move on through to the financial district. Due to the time I wanted to make sure that I saw everything and wanted to spend more time walking around the financial district.
As we made it to that stop I hopped off and was greeted by the oculus, which has it's unique structure and is as magnificent on the inside than outside. Walking a bit further on, I approached the 9/11 memorial and paid many respects to all those involved in that terrible time. The scenery was peaceful and sheds light onto the horrors that entailed on that day.
After this, it was time to head back on the bus and to head back up to the inner city to grab some food. Getting back on the bus we drove past liberty island and had a lovely drive (like the ones you see in the movies) the music fitted the mood and it was the perfect way to end a magical tour.
As you can tell by reading, this day was very packed so I got back to the hotel and luckily there was a 'Shake Shack' next to it so I ordered some burgers and cheesy chips and flopped myself into bed and prepared myself for the day ahead.
